Definitely not. They work in synergism. Perhaps consider taking these two apart so the atranil doesn't kill off any of the good probiotics but I wouldn't worry much about this. Taking both is a positive.
Hmmm...It was just recommended to me, by Atrantil support, not to take probiotics with Atrantil. Am a bit confused on this issue.
it says not to take probiotics with Antrantil....what is the right answer?
Gastroenterologist said I could have yogurt but no Probiotic pills. I have Prebiotics and Probiotics and hope to utilize these as well. However, will wait for upcoming follow-up appt. with Gastro dr. and will ask if I can take these once I have gotten through the first bottle. I'm almost out of Atrantil and will be ordering next bottle very soon. Hope this helps someone. Will post drs. reply once I see him late July.
wish you had posted the messages from support regarding probiotics. It seems like it is best not to take probiotics while doing the Atrantil. I guess that might apply to probiotics as well. Too bad there is so little activity on this forum. It's not very helpful.
Hi!
Thank you for your question! We do not recommend taking probiotics while taking Atrantil, unless they are spore based or probiotic foods, such as yogurt. The reason we do not recommend other kinds of probiotics in because, Atrantil works to get rid of the overgrowth of bacteria in the small bowel, which causes the adverse symptoms. By adding in more bacteria through probiotics, you are adding more fuel to the fire by putting more bacteria in the area we are trying to get rid of it. However, once Atrantil has had a chance to work and the small bowel is able to flow freely again, so that the bacteria flow into the colon where they belong, you can add back in the probiotics. However, if you do choose to take probiotics while on Atrantil, just know it may take longer to see results. And in that case, we recommend spacing them at least an hour apart from the time you take Atrantil.
Thank you and best wishes,
Atrantil Support Team
My physician said to take a Biohm probiotic because she wanted me to have the s. boulardii from the probiotic to prevent yeast infection from the Xifaxan I am on. I have been taking Biohm in the morning and a s.boulardii in the evening. I will stop Biohm if it interferes with Atrantil. I will also stop the s. boulardii capsule if it interferes as it is a probiotic also. Hopefully I won't develop yeast.
It is pretty clear that it is not advisable to take probiotics when taking Atrantil. But I'm wondering about taking probiotics AFTER Atrantil. I suffer motility issues from an underlying condition (Parkinson's). It is quite a common issue. Will taking a probiotic after the treatment regimen just cause buildup in the small intestine again?
Hi!
Thank you for your question. For best results we do not recommend taking probiotics while taking Atrantil until you have had relief from your symptoms. Once you have had relief, you can slowly add them back in. However, in the case of motility issues, taking probiotics may be causing the bacterial overgrowth to recurr. In this case, we recommend either not taking probiotics or taking a spore pribiotic. We hope this helps to answer your question!
Hi Brandi -
Things keep coming up. I am scheduled for a tooth extraction net week and the dentist wants me on amoxycillin for almost two weeks. I know antibiotics can be problematic with digestion. What is your recommendation? I also ordered Dr. Gundr y's BIO COMPLETE 3. It has a "no questions" return policy which is why I took a chance with it. It has probiotics in it. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Ah, things get complicated. i'm having a tooth extraction and the oral surgeon has prescribed Amoxicillin for two weeks. I've always read that antibiotics raise hell with the gut. Should I be taking atrantil with it? I'm also planning on taking Dr Gundfry's Bio Complete 3 though I don't really know what's in it (the guarantee was too good not to try it). What is your advice on all this?

would there be any contraindications for taking Atrantil with probiotics?
What about with herbal "antibiotics?" (Such as FC Cidal/Dysbiocide OR Candibactin-AR or Candibactin-BR?)
Thank you
